My writing: A Friendship Renewed

Parched earth

cracked like their resolve.

Nothing grows

while the thirst is strong.

A lone leaf

drops to the ground,

like the farmer’s wife

who falls to her knees in prayer.

The farmhouse stands

alone amidst the dust.

No sign of life around it.

But the seasons change

and an estranged friend

forms on the horizon.

Dense, grey clouds

black the sun and bring

relief from the heat.

A drop of life falls,

like a tear from heaven,

and then another, and another…

The thirsty ground

soaks up the tears,

sent from the sky

like an apology from

a long lost friend.
